Ogimachisanjo Sanetomo (正親町三条実同)
Sanetomo OGIMACHISANJO (September 25, 1748 - February 23, 1785) was Kugyo (a Court noble) during the middle of the Edo period. He was a retainer of the Imperial Court who served two emperors: Emperor Gomomozono (118th) and Emperor Kokaku (119th). The last official rank he received was Junii Sangi (councillor in the Junior Second Rank). His father was Gon Dainagon (a provisional chief councilor of state), Kintsumu OGIMACHISANJO. His mother was the daughter of Gon Dainagon, Kintomi SANJONISHI. His younger brother was Sanebumi HANAZONO, Sakone gon no chujo (a Provisional Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards). His son was Gon Chunagon (a provisional vice-councilor of state) Kinnori OGIMACHISANJO. His daughters were the wives of Gon Dainagon (provisional chief councilors of state), Naomitsu YANAGIHARA and Naomitsu YANAGIHARA.
He was conferred a peerage in 1750. After that, he was gradually promoted from the member of Palace staff to Ukone no Gon no shosho (Provisional Minor Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards) and Ukon no gon no chujo (Provisional Middle Captain of the Right Division of Inner Palace Guards),and in 1769, he became Jusanmi Sangi (councillor in the Junior Third Rank), which raised his position to kugyo status. He once resigned in 1771, however, was reappointmented as Sangi in 1779. He also served as Sakone gon no chujo (Provisional Middle Captain of the Left Division of Inner Palace Guards) and worked as Toka no sechie Geben (a kugyo who supervised many matters outside Jomei Gate at the Imperial Court Ceremony called Toka no sechie), and later died in 1785. He died at the age of 38.
